New Britain Downtown District Clean Campaign
The New Britain Downtown District has initiated a “BEEautiful New Britain” campaign which sets goals of a clean and beautiful Downtown. Each year this committee and the Public Works department sponsor a “Clean Up” day in Downtown in conjunction with volunteer organizations like Chrysalis Center, New Britain High School Interact Club, and the New Britain Police Explorers. The committee, under the direction of Justine Moriarty, has established a “Tidy Town Award” to be given to members of our community that take great pride in maintaining their properties and benefiting the overall appearance of our Downtown.
The committee was recently awarded a grant from the Coka-Cola “Keep America Beautiful” foundation. This money will be used to purchase cigarette receptacles to be distributed throughout the Downtown this spring. Work is currently being done on a flower pot program to be launched later in the year.
